Just a few questions on the rules

Post  welsh on Sat Sep 06, 2008 9:44 pm

Hello there looking to come fishing here soon and had a few questions about the rules :-)

No Braided Line or Hook Links - Just wondering why, this is the first place i have seen with this ban. Though this was standard carp fishing gear.

No Fixed Rigs (i.e. Method Feeders - Inline Free Running Method Feeders are acceptable) No fixed rigs fair enough, can you use semi-fixed with safety clips eg http://www.uncutfishing.co.uk/korda_clip.html?

All Feeders & Leads Must Be Free Running - No Bolt Rigs as above can methods be fixed to safety clips

If the top pond has 20lb carp in, suprised you dont need an unhooking mat? Also size 10 hook ?

The no boillies too, seem that in a few places why is that, do they pollute?

Anyway, not a moan or anything just curious

thanks

welsh

Re- Rules of the Fishery

Post  dinoteam on Thu Sep 11, 2008 6:10 pm

Regarding your comment we are not the first fishery to ban Braid, Fixed Rigs, semi fixed rigs, Boilies, Method feeders and we will not be the last, due to the damage it can cause the fish.

After many seasons having to pull large dead fish tethered to fixed rigs, Braid, Barbed hooks, sea line the decision was made to ban all said items, as it was becoming increasingly annoying to watch anglers using heavy duty gear as mentioned when it is not needed to catch fish at Redhill.

As for unhooking mats it is expected for all anglers when targeting bigger fish to be in possession of an unhooking mat

Boilies were banned due to the quantities which was laughable being thrown in by anglers up to 5kg a session, to catch 1 fish, was not acceptable because what many anglers do not realise, self life boilies & some frozen boilies in the size of the ponds at Redhill can sit on the bottom rotting and deteriorating
the quality of the water

As you can appreciate rules are put in place on fisheries for a reason and that is to protect the fish stocks, in some instances and in a small percentage do not care about the environment they are fishing in and for this reason is why we have such rules in place, we can only apologise if these rules upset some anglers, but then they do not have to come to Redhill to fish. As all of these methods which are banned are not required to have an enjoyable day at the complex.
The fish welfare is and always will be our number 1 priority.
